Overview
Filing an income tax return is mandatory if your gross total income exceeds the basic exemption limit, and it is required in several other cases too — such as holding foreign assets, or having spent above prescribed limits on foreign travel or electricity. Filing on time preserves your right to carry forward losses and avoid interest under sections 234A, 234B and 234C.
A correctly filed return also matters commercially. Lenders ask for two to three years of returns for home and business loans, and most visa applications require them. We select the correct form, compare the old and new tax regimes for your specific numbers, and claim every deduction you are entitled to.
