Overview
A Section 8 Company is a not-for-profit registered under the Companies Act, 2013 for promoting charity, education, science, religion, environmental protection or similar objects. Profits, if any, must be applied to the objects and cannot be distributed to members.
Of the three common NGO structures — Trust, Society and Section 8 Company — the Section 8 Company is generally regarded as the most credible by corporate donors, CSR funders and government agencies because of its stricter governance and MCA oversight.
